Wouldn't stay again Positive: There were some positives. The location is excellent, the area is lovely and quiet, and the fridge worked very well, providing filtered cold water and ice. The cottage itself has a lot of charm and genuinely has the potential to be a wonderful place to stay. Negative: We stayed here for two nights and, unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The biggest issue was that there was no toilet paper provided. We contacted the host, who initially said someone would bring some over, but nothing ever arrived. When we followed this up, they insisted there should have been half a roll and another full roll in the property. There simply wasn't. We wouldn't have contacted them if toilet paper had been available. Later, they even messaged asking how our stay was going and, after we explained we still had no toilet paper, nothing was done to resolve the issue. We ended up having to buy our own, along with bin bags and cleaning products. We were also surprised to have paid a security deposit when so many aspects of the property were in poor condition. The most concerning issue was the back door. It is a double-glazed door, but the entire outer pane of glass was missing. Broken glass was still lodged around the frame where the pane should have been, meaning someone could easily have cut their hand while opening or closing the door. This presented a genuine safety hazard. The kitchen had not been properly prepared for new guests. The dishwasher hadn't been emptied, dirty oven trays were left inside the oven, and more trays had been left outside. There were no cleaning products provided, so we had to buy our own surface spray before we felt comfortable using the kitchen. Because the oven trays were dirty, we ended up ordering a takeaway on our first night instead of cooking. The kitchen also lacked basic equipment and essentials. There wasn't enough cutlery, there were only enough drinking glasses for two people despite the property sleeping three, there were no dishwasher tablets, no bin bag in the kitchen bin, and none of the usual basics such as tea, coffee, salt, pepper or cooking oil. The only food left behind was an old bag of rice and a tin of kidney beans. The bathroom also needed much better attention.

The location was good, although the directions could’ve been a little clearer. Inside the property, it was comfortable. Positive: Inside seemed like it hadn’t long been decorated. It Was comfortable inside. Negative: The garden was overgrown. Previous guests had used bbq left cooking trays outside. It was dirty outside. There wasn’t enough cutlery. Oven was dirty. Cooking trays dirty. Wheelie bin outside was full and full of maggots. There was also a wasps nest outside the back window so we had to keep the windows shut.

It was lovely but very unpredictable. I love the home itself, and it’s next to a motorway but slight noise but that does Positive: Loved the property itself. I love rural areas so this was great for me. The kitchen is lovely. The garden is an ok size. Negative: I couldn’t use the toilet or bedrooms upstairs from 11pm as there seemed to be an infestation of wasps, so we slept downstairs on our blow up mattress which lucky we bring everywhere otherwise we wouldn’t of slept. And unfortunately the garden was very overgrown. Also it did have a broken glass panel. But I didn’t see any glass so we didn’t mind.
